Notorious (1946)
IT’S DIFFICULT TO TRUST FILM REVIEWS THESE DAYS
They’re usually put out there by shills who are bought and paid for… Or they’re plants direct from the studio… Or they’re simply published by lily-livered hacks too scared of being black-listed by the corporations that own the studios… But BRONSON GREEN gives it to you straight !
REGULAR 3-LINE NO-FRILLS, NO BS FILM REVIEWS… SIMPLE AS THAT, READERS !!!
Notorious - Hitch’s fun but slight Nazi spy thriller throws some deep dark shadows around in Miami and Brazil, and perfectly maintains the intensity and suspense between the two central characters. Rains is an almost dignified sap, Calhern the sonofabitch who couldn’t care less about Bergman, and Grant is OK for once because he isn’t talking too much, being unfunny, or pratting about all over the place - and at times you can even see why Fleming wanted him for Bond. Economic and tight. 7.9/10
